Authorities investigating homicide in Mendota

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- UPDATE: The Fresno County Coroner's Office has identified the victim as 30-year-old Joanna Maya of Mendota.

The Fresno County Sheriff's Office is investigating a homicide in Mendota Wednesday.

They said a woman in her 30s was found dead at the Mendota Gardens Apartments near K and I Streets around 2:30 a.m.

Authorities are in the area investigating.

The identity of the woman has not been released yet.

No arrests have been made yet and authorities are calling for witnesses to help in the case.

This is the first homicide in Mendota for 2016.
