Former State Senate leader and Valley representative Dave Cogdill dies

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Family members and former colleagues are mourning the loss of former state senator Dave Cogdill.

He passed away Sunday following a battle with pancreatic cancer. Cogdill served as the California state senate Republican leader from 2008 to 2009 following his election to represent the 14th district in the Central Valley in 2006.

Cogdill most recently served as the president and CEO of the Califonia Building Industry Association and was formerly the chairman of The Maddy Institute at Fresno State.

Cogdill was 66 years old and is survived by his wife Stephanie, two kids and three grandchildren.
