Tremendous Support from the Community

KFSN Dozens of people showed up for an enchilada dinner in downtown Merced. The food served as a fundraiser for the Lopez family.

5-year-old Josh Lopez died when a truck smashed into his parents' Winnebago when they tried to make a u-turn in the RV.

The accident left presents all over Manning Avenue.

But since Christmas, the family has gotten a different kind of present from neighbors.

Jesse Gonzalez, Family Spokesperson: "Every day there's always someone in the community that either calls them or shows their support for the family. Of course, after the holidays, everything seems to slow down, but in this case it appears they've gotten a tremendous amount of support."

The family is holding a public visitation for Josh this coming Friday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church on east Yosemite. That's from 5:00 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Then next Saturday, they'll have a burial service at St. Patrick's, starting at 9:00 a.m.
