Helping Californians Save Money

California's first lady appeared at the Cesar Chavez Adult Education Center kicking off the "We Connect" campaign.

The goal is to help working families learn how to take advantage of State Financial Resources such as the Earned Income Tax Credit.

Shriver says many people here in Fresno overlook these resources because they don't realize they're qualified.

Maria Shriver, California First Lady: "It's one of the poorest cities in the United States. There's $26 Million dollars just from the earned income tax credit that is unclaimed in this city by the people who live here."

The first lady says today they have processed more people Tuesday than they did the entire year last year.
