This is where officers came last night after the girl's father; Jericho Wright called 911 to report that he found his daughter dead when he returned home from delivering newspapers. At that point he was arrested for neglect.
Authorities say Wright was so distraught that he was placed under observation at the Merced County Jail. But this morning Police Chief Barry Mann told Action News, investigators now believe Wright killed his daughter because he was upset about how she was acting at the time.
Chief Mann says he will be asking the Merced County District Attorney to file murder charges.
Meanwhile neighbors built a small shrine is to honor the little girl and show sympathy for her mother, who police say was separated from Wright, but shared joint custody.
