High School Students Clean Up Neighborhood

Fresno They teamed up Saturday to paint the town green and gold, which are Roosevelt's school colors.

They're calling the area the "TR Plaza" after the school's namesake, Teddy Roosevelt.

All the businesses agreed to the new paint jobs to show support for the kids, the teachers, and the school.

Martha Solis, Roosevelt High School Student, says "The TR Plaza sends a strong message that our school and our neighborhood are proud partners. We are fortunate to live in a community that truly cares about education and we're so excited about this project."

The painting project also helped cover up some graffiti in the area and it's part of a larger effort to beautify the area around Roosevelt.

They're also contracting with a local artist for a giant mural on the side of the school.
