Valley Farmers See Benefits of Winter's Snowfall

The Fresno Irrigation District started its water deliveries Saturday, at the usual time of year.Surface water from the Pine Flat dam and the Kings River is shipped to farmers to irrigate their crops. But because of last year's drought, deliveries didn't start until May first, and even after that, they were sporadic.

Gary Serrato, Fresno Irrigation District, says "Last year was a 38% year. We only were able to deliver water half the time and because of that we're still recovering."

During drought seasons, farmers have to pump water from underground and it usually costs a lot more in electric bills.
