They say smith used a weapon to force women into his vehicle and then, he sexually assaulted them. Police say they believe some but not all of the victims were prostitutes.
Chief Jerry Dyer, Fresno Police Department: "Whether an individual is involved in an act or prostitution or not, they do not deserve to be treated in the manner in which they did, to be forcefully taken to be kidnapped and to be sexually assaulted in the manner of which they were."
Police say Smith was taken into custody after an undercover operation in Central Fresno.
They're urging other possible victims to contact them.
