Five shot, one dead at church shooting

RICHMOND, CA

What is more surprising, the people that we spoke to and saw the aftermath, seemed to be unfazed by the murders. They say a lot of people get shot around here. Members of the Church of the Living God were setting up around 7:30 a.m. Sunday morning. That's when witnesses say a man in a red hooded sweatshirt drove by in a read pickup and fired ten shots and killed one man and seriously injured four others. Police have not released the identity of the victim, but he attended church on Sunday mornings last month.

"It's just a tragedy. Senseless taking of lives, but we're living in a society now where young kids are growing up and have violent mentors. The violence and the video games and it's all about killing," says one resident.

Surprisingly, residents say in the past there was another shooting in front of the church, but no one was killed so the media did not cover it. Richmond police say there was an earlier related shooting not far from the church and they believe that the victims here were not the intended targets.
