Madera Student Tested Positive for TB

4/4/2008 Fresno, CA One-hundred students and staff members at a Madera High School will be tested next week, after a student was recently diagnosed with tuberculosis.

Madera County Unified administrators said the Health Department told them this week, a student at Madera South High School had been diagnosed with tuberculosis.

Letters were sent home with everyone who had direct contact with the student. They'll be tested next week. "If you were not notified by either Madera County Health or Madera South High School there's no reason to be concerned," said Jake Bragonier with the Madera Unified School District.

A spokesperson for the district says the student is studying from home, until he gets cleared by a doctor to return to school.
