Police called a bomb squad to a Larkspur home Saturday morning after a man discovered what appeared to be a live hand grenade, according to the Twin Cities Police Department.

A man cleaning out a recently deceased relative's home at 31 Chanticleer Ave. found what he believed to be a live World War II era hand grenade, police reported. Officers responded at about 10: 05 a.m. with the University of California, Berkeley's police bomb squad.

Nearby residents were advised to stay in their homes while the grenade was removed from the residence, police reported. Bomb squad officials later determined the grenade was not live, according to police.
