Fresno Unified Addresses Deadly Shooting

4/23/2008 Fresno, CA "This has been a very difficult week. Nobody wants to lose a student in any way, particularly in a tragic situation," said School Board Trustee Manuel Nunez.

"On behalf of the board and all of us at Fresno Unified I wish to express my sincere condolences to everyone involved in the incident," said Dr. Tony Vang, School Board President.

Board members said it wasn't their place to comment further since the death of Jesse Carrizales remains under investigation.

Officer Junus Perry shot and killed the seventeen year-old after police said the teen attacked Perry with a modified baseball bat.

The Carrizales family is expected to meet Thursday with Police Chief Jerry Dyer and Mayor Alan Autry.
