A 16-year-old male and 22-year-old male were both shot some time after 12:30 Sunday morning at a party in Merced County. It happened on the 100 block of Ramos Road, between Santa Nella and Los Banos.

16-year-old Peter Fregoso suffered a fatal wound. The 22-year-old was treated at a hospital and then released.

According to Merced County Sheriff's Deputy Tom McKenzie, there were about 300-500 people at this party. He also says that rival gang members were in attendance; Nortenos and Surenos.

Deputy McKenzie says words were exchanged between gang members and someone started shooting. It is not known of this time if the 2 victims are in either gang.

Both victims are Los Banos residents.

McKenzie says they are having difficulty investigating the case at this time because witnesses and the surviving victim are not cooperating.

They have no suspects at this time.
