Lawsuit Filed Against Local Episcopal Bishop

4/25/2008 Fresno, CA The Diocese has filed a lawsuit against Bishop John-David Schofield to force him to turn over all property held by the Diocese and vacate his offices. A civil complaint filed in Fresno County claims Schofield refuses to turn over the property. This dispute comes after the Diocese voted to leave the US Episcopal Church in December over the church's support for gays and women's participation in the church.

Last month, a bishop loyal to the U.S. church was elected to head the Diocese of San Joaquin.
