Police say 21-year-old Oscar Antonio Escobar was on his way home, when he was stopped by two suspected gang members.
"The victim was walking home from a local restaurant," said April Harding of the LAPD. "He had food in his hand for his family when two male Hispanic suspects walked up to him and shot him."
The motive for the shooting is unknown.
Police say Escobar was not a gang member.
Authorities say the suspects, both in their 20's, took off in a 1990's black Honda.
