Fresno Man Shot by Sheriff Deputy

5/18/2008 Fresno, CA A deputy responded to the neighborhood of Central and Cedar around 10 o'clock Saturday night after someone called 911 and then hung up.

Investigators say when the deputy got to the scene; he was directed to a car parked in a dirt lot. When the deputy walked up the car the person inside got out and approached him with a knife.

The deputy fired several shots killing the man.

This is the department's first officer involved shooting of the year.
