Southern Ca. Faces Rain, Mud, Tornado

5/22/2008 KFSN Torrential downpours are causing dangerous mudslides.

Despite the evacuation order, some people can't leave their homes because mud and debris are already blocking the road.

The slides are in the same canyons burned by wildfires last fall.

So far, no one's been hurt.

The same weather system actually dropped a little snow higher in the mountains. At the same time, the evening commute is swamped - literally. All but a lane and a half in the westbound direction is flooded.

Both sides of the freeway there slowed to a crawl. Workers were called out in an attempt to clear the drain.
