Update: California Fires

6/16/2008 KFSN Fire crews with chainsaws cleared brush and trees while others with shovels and hoes were putting out hot spots. Three homes and eight outbuildings were destroyed by the fire. One home and one outbuilding were damaged.

The fire is 90% percent contained on more than 520 acres. Fire officials expect to have the fire fully contained late Monday.

Lighter winds have helped fire fighters gain some ground on the Humboldt fire in Northern California.

23,000 thousand acres have burned. The fire is now about 45% percent contained.

Thousands of residents evacuated from the town of Paradise were let back into the area over the weekend to look over their property damage.
