Sunday Morning Shooting Leaves 1 Dead

An early-morning shooting killed a man in southwest Fresno Sunday. It happened just before 2:30 am at Poppy and Grove.When officers arrived they found a 40-year old man in the middle of the street. He had a gunshot wound.

Emergency workers rushed him to Community Regional Medical Center where he later died.

Investigators are still searching for a motive in the shooting.

The shooting comes almost a year after another deadly shooting at the very same intersection. On June 26, 2007, a man in his 30's was shot in the stomach. He was also rushed to Community Regional Medical Center where he died.

Police told Action News the home-made memorial from last year's shooting is still at the scene. People placed a teddy bear and candles at the corner of the intersection.
