Brush fire in Oakland Hills contained

OAKLAND, CA

The fire came very close to the Hiller Highlands condiminiums at one point.

There were no evacuations caused by the fire and no structures damaged.

Firefighters from Berkeley and East Bay Regional Parks assisted in combating the fire.

The fire burned in the same area where the Oakland firestorm happened back in 1991. It was actually near apartment buildings that had been rebuilt after that fire.

According to the Oakland fire department, the fire burned about two acres.

It was originally reported around 11:30 a.m. and is near Buckingham Boulevard, Tunnel Road and Hiller Drive. A motorist said he saw flames that were about 20 feet high just a couple of hundred yards off the freeway.
