Out of State Help to Battle Fires in the Foothills

Fresno, CA Several families in Mariposa County are still under evacuation orders.

So far, the "Oliver Fire" has burned two-thousand acres in the Ponderosa Basin area and its 20-percent surrounded.

The other fires burning in our local foothills are just a few miles away. The "Sliver Knob" fire, just northeast Oakhurst has burned 480-acres and is now 60-percent contained.

The "Star Lakes" fire is in the back-country northeast of Oakhurst. It stands at 200-acres, but it's not surrounded at all. And the "Westfall" fire near Fish Camp burned just over 100-acres, but it's completely contained.

"Century 21 Ditton Realty" is accepting donations for firefighters at their offices in Oakhurst and Coarsegold.

They say firefighters need toiletries like toothpaste, razors and deodorant.
