Visalia firefighters are mopping up after an early morning house fire that damaged two homes. Two Visalia families are trying to salvage what they can from a devastating fire.

Thursday a fire started around 3:00am between two homes. It destroyed one house where an elderly woman suffered minor injuries.

A fire fighter was also injured when debris fell and struck him. He suffered minor injuries.

Investigators have ruled out arson as a factor, but they're still searching for clues.

"There was a storage shed that went between the two homes. That was burning when we got here. The blue home was a little more heavily involved than the white home," said Kevin Gildea with the Visalia Fire Department.

A home next door was severely damaged because flames got into the attic area. Firefighters had to destroy part of the ceiling in order to put out those hot spots.
