Hmong Hero Honored

Hundreds of people in Clovis paid tribute to a civilian pilot who served alongside Hmong leader General Vang Pao.A memorial service for Captain David Harold Kouba was held at the Clovis Veterans Memorial Building Sunday with hundreds of Hmong-Americans in attendance.

Kouba was a civilian pilot who flew in Laos during the United States's secret war against communism in Southeast Asia. In 1975, he was assigned to evacuate a CIA officer and Major General Vang Pao out of their Long Cheng headquarters.

Kouba died in Las Vegas earlier this year at the age of 69.
