July 24, 2008 11:15:53 PM PDT
A Tulare County Sheriff's deputy was stabbed during an attempted eviction at a home near Recreation Park in Downtown Visalia, according to Visalia Police and the Tulare County Sheriff's Department.

This happened just before 3 pm Thursday and led to a SWAT standoff. It ended when officers brought the barricaded suspect out of his home just before 5 pm. Police say the deputy injured was taken to Kaweah Delta Hospital where he was treated and released. The officer is a 27 year veteran.

The hours-long standoff led to street closures in the downtown area. And the Visalia Oaks decided to postpone tonight's game because of the police activity.
