Catching Waves in the Valley

Lindsay, CA, USA The "Flowrider" made its debut at the McDermott Field House in Lindsay. The "Flowrider" simulates waves by shooting a thin layer of water at a high rate of speed over a spongy surface.

The attraction cost one million dollars to build and you can either surf or boogey-board.

They even offer lessons. This Flowrider is part of an ambitious project to transform an old packing house into a recreation center that eventually will bring a-half million visitors a year.

Brad Albert: "We feel people ... stimulate our economy."

The Flowrider costs twelve dollars an hour for boogie boarders and eighteen dollars for surfers.

They only allow twenty participants per hour so you'll want to call ahead.
