Police are waiting to interview the surviving victim, a woman still at Mercy Hospital in Merced. But until then, they don't have much to go on.
Police said around 9:15pm Monday night, a man called Merced Police to report that his mother and father had both been shot. The man was pronounced dead, and the woman has been taken to Mercy Hospital in Merced. Her condition is not known, but police don't believe her injuries are life threatening.
At this point, police do not believe this was an attempted murder-suicide. The search for a suspect is ongoing. The victims' son described the suspect to police as a man with a tan shirt.
