25th Annual National Night Out

Valley residents are taking to the streets for National Night Out.It's a night for communities to unite against crime in their neighborhoods. Several celebrations are taking place throughout the valley this one here at the Target on Shaw and Marks brought about McGruff the Crime Dog.

Fresno PD also brought out their K-9 units to greet visitors and even pet turtles.

Chief Jerry Dyer says National Night Out is all about neighbors getting to know their other neighbors.

Chief Jerry Dyer, Fresno Police: "We believe that when you get to know your neighbors, you get to know your neighborhood. You're more likely to report suspicious activity to the police. Especially when you know who your officers are in that jurisdiction."

National Night started in 1984. This is the 25th year for the annual celebration.

Fresno Locations:
Fresno's Northwest Policing District will celebrate National Night Out at Target located at 3150 W. Shaw Ave by N. Marks Ave.

The Central Policing District will celebrate National Night Out at Concrete Park located on the Northwest corner of San Pablo and Belmont from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The Northeast Policing District will celebrate National Night Out at Eldorado Park located at El Dorado Park located at 1343 E Barstow Ave by N. Fourth St from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The Southeast Policing District will celebrate National Night Out at Pilibos Soccer Park located at Pilibos Soccer Park located at 4945 E Lane Ave by S. Winery Ave from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The Fresno Police Department, Southwest Neighborhood Watch, and Fresno Housing Authority will celebrate National Night Out at Martin Luther King Elementary School located at 1001 E. Florence from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
