When firefighters arrived, the first house was fully engulfed in flames. The radiant heat spread fire to the second home. Crews were able to put out the fire, but not before extensive damage was done to both homes.
A mother and two children in the first residence were able to get out safely. An elderly couple next door escaped as well.
The fire is believed to have started by an electrical short in the attic of the first home.
