Body found in home burned by Idaho wildfire

August 26, 2008 12:00:00 AM PDT
Authorities say a badly burned body has been discovered inside one of the homes destroyed by a wildfire that quickly spread through dry grass and shrubs in a Boise neighborhood. Boise Police spokeswoman Lynn Hightower says fire crews found the body early Tuesday while combing through one of the nine homes destroyed by the blaze. Police on Monday said 10 homes had been destroyed in the blaze, but revised those figures Tuesday to nine homes destroyed and 10 homes damaged.

No other residents were injured, but 17 police officers and at least one firefighter were treated at local hospitals.

Hightower says the fire is under control and residents from the more than 50 homes evacuated Monday night can now return.
