A special "Saroyan Country" sign was unveiled ... the first of seven signs to be permanently posted along Inyo Street downtown.
Mayor Alan Autry joined the William Saroyan Foundation outside the Saroyan Theater downtown to kick off several days of events in honor of Saroyan's 100th birthday.
The National Chamber Orchestra of Armenia will perform Thursday at the Saroyan Theater.
