August 31, 2008 12:00:00 AM PDT
Volunteers from the Fresno-Madera Red Cross are heading to Texas right now to get ready for hurricane Gustav's arrival.Nine of them left for San Antonio to get instructions on where they'll be able to help the most as soon as the storm reaches the coast.

Bob Wilson, Volunteer, says "We've lived and worked in this community for a long time... We have skills we have to offer."

Wilson and another volunteer left Friday in an emergency response vehicle, and should arrive in San Antonio before the hurricane makes landfall.

The local Red Cross plans to send several more volunteers, but not until after Gustav makes landfall.
