These days, the word "higher" in higher education probably refers to the cost...especially when it comes to textbooks.

Te website CNX.org is trying to virtually change the textbook marketplace.

CNX or Connexions is an open-source textbook site where authors put their books online in a form called a module, then students and teachers can re-write and edit the material creating a peer-reviewed collection of works.

Using the site is simple. After creating a user account, all you do is pick a topic and search a list of modules will then pop up. You can also see how other users rate the information and how many times it's been revised.

Right CNX has books on almost every subject. The site has nearly one million users a month and is still a work in progress.

CNX puts a 21st century spin on college books and the hope is to save you money with such high college costs.
