With no end in sight to this bleak economic forecast, perhaps keeping an eye on spending is one way to stay in the black.--------------------------------------------------------------

As stocks plunge, jobs vanish, and financial fear at all around us, keeping track of your bottom line is the bottom line. So the site Foonance.com may be worth a look.

It's a web-based financial planner that helps you keep track of your money and where it's going.

Using it is simple. First register and create a money store where you can import your internet bank statement or manually put in the amount of money you have at your disposal.

Then whenever you spend money you can use what the site calls tag clouds to keep track of certain expenses. Over-time the sites founders say you may be able to find places to trim. Just the mere sight of how much you spend on, you know, those not so important purchases could make you stop.

So during these uncertain economic times, maybe the best advice comes from one of our founding fathers, Ben Franklin who said, "Beware of little expenses, a small leak sinks a great ship."
