Suspected U.S. Missile Strike in Pakistan Kills 6

October 1, 2008 12:00:00 AM PDT
A suspected U.S. missile strike has left at least six people dead in a Pakistani tribal region near the Afghan border. Pakistani intelligence officials said a U.S. drone aircraft fired the missiles. Two intelligence officials said the missiles struck the home of a local Taliban commander.

The attacks have drawn stiff protests from Islamabad, an uneasy ally in Washington's seven-year war on terror.

The strike comes amid reports that Pakistan's top Taliban leader, has died. A Taliban official denies it.
