Questions about a possible grade change have prompted a staff investigation at Edison High School. Now - students and parents are waiting to learn whether a football players grade really was changed so he could continue playing.Edison Student Alisa Hernandez said, "That's not right to do that. It's not fair for the other players that don't get to play because their grades are down."

Edison Parent Michelle Dunn said, "It kinda makes you wonder what's been going on that we haven't caught before that we're just now catching now. So if that's really happened, yeah, that's pretty devastating."

Questions began after the California Interscholastic Federation got an anonymous letter containing allegations that include the grade change ... A CIF official says he then contacted Edison's Principal, Rick Lopez.

Friday, Lopez said he was the one who first requested the district investigation ... And told action news, quote, "I have been openly supportive of the teacher and team in a confidential and appropriate manner - and there has been full disclosure with the district regarding this situation."

A Fresno Unified spokesperson says that investigation began September 11th ... An investigation that is focused not on the student athlete ... But on staff. In a statement, the district said quote, "As you know, the District is not legally permitted to reveal confidential student information, including academic records. The investigation, however, is focused on staff not student ineligibility."
