In-N-Out: No 25-cent burgers

10/11/2008 IRVINE The In-N-Out drive-thru chain is celebrating its 60th anniversary next week, and word is multiplying exponentially across the Web and via cellphone texts that prices will be cut to 1950s levels in commemoration to celebrate.

"The rumor is not true," says the company.

President Mark Taylor posted a message on the Irvine-based firm's Web page that said the company has "tried to keep its prices low to give our customers the greatest value. One of the ways we accomplish this is by not discounting, and our anniversary is no exception."

Company employees reportedly started getting messages about the supposed anniversary sale last Monday, and by Tuesday the company's incoming message volume had doubled, a company official told the Pasadena Star-News.

In-N-Out is a privately-held company, and operates about 200 restaurants in California and four other states.
