Man sentenced to 16 years in prison for LA fires

LOS ANGELES (AP) Superior Court Judge Norm Shapiro sentenced 44-year-old Gary Allen Lintz of Glendale on Monday after he entered a plea of no contest to one count of arson of a structure or forest. Lintz also admitted the special allegations of great bodily injury to a firefighter and of having a prior arson conviction.

In return for his plea, three counts were dismissed.

Lintz was arrested in August after hikers said they saw him near an area in Griffith Park where a fire had broken out. He was charged with starting four fires that occurred between July and August 2008.
