Northwest Fresno Officer Involved Shooting

Police are at the scene of an overnight shooting in northwest Fresno.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Traffic Alert: Gettysburg has been reopened, but the surrounding streets remained closed while police continue their investigation.

The officer involved shooting started out at Shaw and Hayes around 1:00am Monday morning where a Honda refused to pull over for speeding.

Officers said the suspect used his car to hit the officer's patrol car, that's when officers opened fire.

The chase came to an end at Gettysburg and Vista, where the suspect surrendered.

"Unfortunately this happens to officers around the state and Fresno, and thankfully officers were not hurt," said Fresno Police Department Spokesman Jeff Cardinale.

The officers involved have been put routine administrative leave during the investigation. The suspect has been taken to the hospital with minor injuries. He'll be arrested on assault with a deadly weapon charges.

Officers are also looking into whether or not he has a criminal record or any gang affiliation.
