Monday morning, a white SUV was towed from a south side Chicago neighborhood with the body of a young boy inside. That discovery may have ended the search for 7-year old Julian King.
"Pending further investigation, a body was found inside. We can't identify pending medical examiner's investigation," said Wayne Gilliford with the Chicago Police.
The nephew of Academy Award-winning actress Jennifer Hudson, King had been missing since Friday. The same day a family member found the bodies of Hudson's mother, Darnell Donerson and brother, Jason Hudson. Both had been shot to death. King, in the house at the time of the shootings, had disappeared.
Friday night, Chicago Police arrested King's stepfather, 27-year-old William Balfour as a person of interest in the shootings. Balfour and King's mother, Julia, fought frequently and were estranged at the time of the murders. Balfour served 7 years in prison for attempted murder and vehicular hijacking and was on parole at the time of his arrest.
Despite the tragedy of their mother and brothers' murders, Hudson and her sister were hopeful the boy would be found alive. The singer offering a $100,000 dollar reward for his safe return.
"I just want my son. That's all I have to say. Please just let my baby go. He didn't do nothing to nobody, nobody; he don't deserve this," said Julia Hudson, King's mother.
Chicago Police have not yet confirmed the body inside that SUV is 7-year old Julian King. They said they are in the very preliminary stages of their investigation. We expect to learn more as the day progresses.
