The Bureau of Reclamation, which owns and operates Friant Dam, started the water flowing again around 10 o'clock Monday morning. It was stopped in November so the Central California Irrigation District could do a scheduled safety inspection of Mendota Dam, which is downstream of Friant Dam.

The River Restoration Project began October first under a settlement signed by farmers, environmentalists and the federal government in 2006.
