Rain Damages Downtown Fresno Building

November 2, 2008 12:00:00 AM PDT
This weekend's rain is partly to blame for a building overhang collapse in downtown Fresno. It happened at Fresno and F streets.Firefighters used a variety of saws to bring down the remainder of the overhang. They say a combination of the rain and age of the building are to blame for the damage.

But the firefighters say they were in the right place at the right time to notice the danger. Nick Martino, Fresno Fire Department, says "We discovered it this morning during our workout and initiated the hazardous situation ourselves."

The firefighters called code enforcement who will call a contractor to remove the rest of the overhang.
