Police said Luis Santos was killed and three other men hurt when Esteban Nunez and three friends got into a fight at San Diego State University in October.
Police said Santos and his friends had just left a party and were walking on campus when they got into an argument with Nunez and his friends who attacked the men.
A spokesman for Fabian Nunez would only say the former speaker will travel to San Diego to be with his son today.
