The victim told police he was in his car sending a text message when two men jumped into the car and attacked him.

They also took his cash and his car keys. Visalia police have extra officers patrolling shopping centers during the holiday season, but they say shoppers have to do their part in protecting themselves.

Investigators say the man robbed should have been more vigilant.

Sgt. Steve Phillips said, "He wasn't' paying attention to his surroundings it wouldn't surprise me to see an uptick in vehicle burglaries or other burglaries."

The robbery victim told police he saw an early 90's black Honda Accord drive away but he wasn't sure if it belonged to the suspects or a possible witness.
