December 13, 2008 12:00:00 AM PST
A disturbing trend in teenagers' cell phone use is documented in a recent movie and it's getting some of the youngsters in trouble. The movie shows kids doing what's called "sexting" (When they use cell phones to send explicit pictures). One study says more than a quarter of all middle and high school students may be doing it.

The x-rated offerings are usually intended just for a boyfriend or girlfriend, but the teens often end up sharing them. The consequences can go beyond embarrassment.

A Wisconsin teen was charged with child pornography for posting naked pictures of his 16-year-old ex-girlfriend and police arrested four middle school students in Alabama for exchanging nude photos.

Criminal charges are rare, but experts said the photos could also come back to haunt the kids when they apply for jobs.
