Clovis Giveaway

December 21, 2008 12:00:00 AM PST
More than 400 local families picked up a Christmas meal, courtesy of one of the valley's most charitable companies and dozens of volunteers. The volunteers helped pack up holiday food boxes at Pelco headquarters Sunday morning.

The food was handed out to needy families from around the Valley who were picked out by social service agencies.

Many of the volunteers are teenagers and organizers said it's a chance for them to see that Christmas isn't just about receiving gifts.

The holiday gifts also included 75 bicycles, which were built for kids by inmates at the Corcoran State Prison.

All told, organizers said they give away about $50,000 dollars worth of food and toys.
