The North American Aerospace Defense Command ... is tracking the flight path of Santa Claus.

He's already made the rounds in New Zealand. NORAD's unusual Christmas tradition began back in 1955 ... When a newspaper in Colorado Springs printed an ad telling children of a phone number to call and speak with Santa.

The phone number was wrong by one digit and calls got through to NORAD. Since then, the US military has been the unofficial worldwide Santa monitoring experts.

Last year, NORAD's Santa Tracking Centre received 94-thousand calls about Santa's Christmas journey. NORAD's website also received about 10 million hits.
