Two Shootings in Tulare

Tulare, CA, USA Friends and relatives laid blue candles and flowers in memory of a young man shot and killed early Thursday morning. Officers found him with a single gunshot wound to the head near this dumpster in an apartment complex off Meadow Lane.

Michelle Doherty and her mother don't believe the young man had any enemies. They're alarmed by what's happened.

Family members of the victim who stopped by the crime scene on Thursday didn't want to speak on camera but said he was an innocent victim. Neighbors said he often visited friends at the apartment complex.

Police were called to this scene while they were investigating another shooting, that happened just before 2:00 AM. On the other side of town on the 900 block of north "E" street, 20-year old Alejandro Hernandez was found lying near this field. Police said he had been shot multiple times and is now recovering at a Fresno hospital.

Police said they're working around the clock to find suspects to both shootings.

Police are asking anyone with information to come forward. They don't believe the shootings are gang-related. In 2008 Tulare had three murders which is down compared to the previous year when they had seven. They hope this Thursday's murder is not the start to more throughout 2009.
