Extreme Makeover Benefits

Fresno, CA, USA "It gives us another opportunity to show Fresno nationally."

Councilman Xiong believes Fresno can serve as an example to the rest of the country of how to rely on each other in a harsh economy.

"We are a community that's growing, that's building. Even in this tough time we know how to come together."

And they certainly have. Volunteer organizers say they are no longer in need of volunteers. Nearly 4000 people have signed up to build a dream and 12 hundred have already been scheduled.

So far the community has offered to donate most of the items needed for the build. Incoming Chamber of Commerce Chair Debbie Hunsaker says local restaurants and businesses volunteering their time and services may get a boost in return.

"The production people and folks associated with the show will also bring economic impact.

Hunsaker says wherever the home is located the entire Valley will benefit.

"Our Valley is pretty close knit. It could spill over into everything we have a lot to offer here."
