On each episode of Extreme Makeover Home Edition, volunteers play a critical role in helping to create a dream home for one deserving family. Paula De Young with De Young Properties said here in the Central Valley nearly 4 thousand people signed up to do the same thing is in less than a week. "We have more volunteers right now than we can use so the excess volunteers we are referring to other deserving agencies here in town," said Paula.

De Young Properties is leading the build. She said they are still contacting volunteers, and plan to pass on a database of extra volunteers to other charities like Nicole Samara's in need.

"Where are these people? We want you to come help us. Help us change our community."

Smaira is with Hands On Central California. She said help is always needed and appreciated. Hands On supplies volunteers for nearly 500 non-profit organizations everyday. "Everybody's in need of help and everybody has different skills and talents all us can use."

Smaira said in fact they are helping Extreme Makeover by supplying nearly 100 volunteers. She said anyone who still wants to get involved in the community still can.

"We'll help you find something we'll connect you as a mentor, we'll help you feed the hungry. We'll help you find something."

During our interview Wednesday, De Young said she was inspired to contribute to another group as well. "There's something else really good that can come of this."

De Young said after seeing a report on Action News that showed rows of empty shelves at the local food bank. She's now she's calling to action the estimated the four to six thousand spectators who will watch the build. "We're now going to ask everyone to bring a canned food item. We'll have the Community Food Bank there to pick up the items and fill our warehouse!"

Organizers hope this project will build momentum to keep the spirit of giving alive here in the Valley long after Extreme Makeover's work is done.
