Tachi Palace Casino Shooting

Lemoore, CA, USA It was an unusual incident here. It resulted in a gun shot, and a wild ride for a police dog. The man caused a ruckus in the casino parking lot.

Dave Putnam of the Kings County Sheriff's Department said, "He was threatening passer bys indicating he had a Molotov Cocktail and other weapons in his vehicle."

When deputies couldn't talk the man out of his truck they sent a police dog in. But instead of getting out the cab, the man just drove away while the dog was biting him.

"The handler of the K9 attempted to stop the fleeing movement of the vehicle attempted to shoot out the rear tire of the truck," said Putnam.

The truck made it out of the Casino parking lot but after the tires were flattened by spike strips in the road, the driver crashed into a barn.

"The only injuries the driver suffered were wounds from dog bites to his arm and side," said Putnam.

The 57 year old Tulare man was taken to the hospital. The police dog was not hurt.

Sheriff's Deputies say the man appeared to have had mental problems and had not been taking his medication.

Investigators are trying to determine if the bottles of liquid found in his truck were actually Molotov Cocktails.
